In this short video, Clive walks through what we do at DGMS, how digital templating fits into real projects, and the kind of person who will enjoy this role.
Digital Templator – Auckland
Digital Measuring Solutions is helping New Zealand’s fabricators and builders move from manual templating to fast, precise digital measurement.
We measure complex environments onsite using Flexijet 3D and Leica iCON and translate that data into clean, organised CAD-ready geometry that makes design and fabrication smoother, faster, and more reliable.
About us
We partner with leading teams across glass, joinery, stone, aluminium and steel to provide digital templating services and workflow support. We also supply Flexijet and Leica systems to businesses that want to bring digital measurement in-house, backed by practical training and real-world industry experience.
The role
We’re looking for our first digital templator to work alongside Clive and play a key role in growing DGMS.
You will complete accurate onsite digital measures and templates, problem-solve with clients where needed, and create clean, labelled CAD-ready outputs that fit real fabrication workflows. You’ll be mainly Auckland-based, with some travel around NZ.
This is not a sales role. The core purpose is measurement + CAD handover.
What you’ll do
Site measurement + problem solving
• Capture precise onsite measurements using Flexijet/Leica and DGMS workflows
• Interpret site conditions, tolerances, and installation constraints
• Collaborate with clients to confirm details before data handover
• Identify risks early and ensure the measurement approach matches the fabrication method
CAD + data handover
• Produce clean, consistent, well-layered CAD geometry (training provided)
• Label and communicate critical details so fabricators can proceed with confidence
• Follow DGMS QA processes and file standards
Equipment + client support
• Maintain measurement gear and data hygiene at a high standard
• Communicate clearly with clients on scope, deliverables and next steps
• Occasionally support a demo or workflow conversation for clients exploring in-house digital templating (optional growth area)
What you’ll bring
We’re open to a range of backgrounds. The best fit is someone practical, accurate, calm under pressure, and keen to build specialist capability.
You might come from joinery, glass, metal, stone, surveying, engineering or shop drawing and be ready to step into digital measurement.
Essential
• Practical experience in fabrication, installation, shop drawing, or site measuring
• Confidence with CAD or strong willingness to learn DGMS CAD standards
• Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail
• Tidy documentation and reliable file habits
• Clean NZ driver’s licence and confidence working independently on customer sites
• Clear, practical communication
Nice to have
• Joinery/glass/stone detailing exposure
• CNC/CAM workflow awareness
• Experience creating or checking as-built geometry
Why you’ll love it
• Specialist training on Flexijet/Leica and DGMS file standards
• Real variety across architectural and high-end residential projects
• A future-proof skill set in a fast-growing field
• Clear growth options as you develop
Optional growth pathway
Over time, there may be an opportunity to support occasional product demos and help businesses transition into digital measurement systems.
Employment type
Full-time (potential trial or contract start for the right person)
How to apply
Please send your CV to info@dgms.co.nz
To help us get a feel for the person behind the CV, we’d also love a short phone video (2–3 minutes total) answering these two questions:
Why would you suit this role with DGMS?
Tell us about one job you’re proud of where accuracy really mattered (especially if something was unclear on site). What did you do?
This doesn’t need to be polished. We’re not assessing presentation skills. A simple, relaxed phone video is perfect.
A short video helps your application stand out. If you’d rather not record one, written answers to the same questions are perfectly fine.
Video submission
Please upload your video to Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive and include the share link with your application. Make sure the link is set to “anyone with the link can view”.

About Digital Measuring Solutions
Who we are
Digital Measuring Solutions helps New Zealand’s fabricators and builders move from manual templating to fast, precise digital measurement.
We measure complex sites using world-leading tools and workflows, then deliver clean, organised CAD-ready geometry that makes design and fabrication smoother, faster and more reliable.
About the role
We partner with teams across:
Glass and balustrades
Joinery and kitchens
Stone and benchtops
Aluminium and metal fabrication
Construction and architectural projects
What this role is about
This is a hands-on technical role that sits between site reality and digital accuracy.

Visit sites around Auckland (and occasionally other parts of NZ)
Capture accurate digital measurements using our tools and processes
Turn that data into tidy, CAD-ready geometry that fabricators can trust
Communicate clearly with clients and help solve practical site issues
This is not a sales role. The core of the job is measurement and clean CAD handover. Over time, there is optional room to support demos and digital workflow conversations if that interests you.
Who we think will enjoy this
You don’t need to have done “digital templating” before. We’re open to different backgrounds.
This role is a great fit if you:
Come from joinery, glass, stone, metal, surveying or shop drawing/detailing
Enjoy getting things right and noticing details
Are comfortable on construction sites and talking to installers or project managers
Either have some CAD experience or are genuinely keen to learn
If you are practical, accurate, calm under pressure and like seeing work installed correctly, you’ll feel at home here.
